JDC West is the largest business school competition in Western Canada. The three-day business case competition took place at the University of Alberta this January and was themed "Empower New Beginnings."

Over 600 students competed in academics, debate, athletics, and an out-of-the-box social competition with the ultimate goal to win the prestigious title of "School of the Year."

There is also a community involvement section of the competition which encourages the schools to log volunteer hours and raise money for charitable organizations by working with external organizations and through an annual Chillin' For Charity event.

The results for the 2017 Edwards School of Business team were as follows:
Business Technology – 1st Place
Team members: Tanner Assie, Preston Thomson, and Dustin Wagner
Coaches: Shan Wang, Ed Pas, Keith Willoughby, and Jessie Munro
